Hooray for the drills

Today we are celebrating the first International Drill Day – #dayofthedrill
We are acknowledging this by offering a fruit cake to the drill monkeys living at Parken Zoo, you can see that film here
The drill is classified as critically endangered according to the IUCN, and it is estimated that there are fewer than 3,000 individuals left in the wild. The individuals living in the wild are divided into many smaller groups that are not close to each other due to the disappearance of their habitat and the increasing fragmentation of their habitat. They are only found in Nigeria, Cameroon and on an island called Bioko, which belongs to Equatorial Guinea.
Parken Zoo are members of the ”Save the Drill”which has the main aim of supporting the Pandrillus projects in Nigeria (Afi Mountain and Calabar) and Cameroon. Contributions received for this will be sent to the work being done in Nigeria and Cameroon.
